  • Fritz’s beer selection is New Belgium’s Abbey style Dubbel Ale
  • New Belgium was founded in 1991 in Collins CO
  • It is the 4th largest craft brewery in the US and its flagship beer is Fat Tire
  • New Belgium’s beers are widely available
  • Abbey ale is a strong brown beer
  • The ABV is 7% where most brown beers are in the 5.5% range
  • The brown color of the beer comes from a carmelized beet sugar
  • Dry finish and complex flavor. Kind of sweet.
  • Won 4 World Beer Cup medals
  • Bottle conditioned which means fermented in the bottle
  • The head is tan
  • Aroma – some cherries, chocolate
  • Amber brown in color
  • Good for desert. Compliments chocolate.
  • Aftertaste is malty, sweeter and thicker
  • Roy performs his ode to the Beach Boys
